You Can Lay It Down With God

You don’t have to perform with God. You can be yourself.

God: I saw you trying to hold it together today.

You: I’m fine.

You can rest now. You don’t have to keep holding everything together.

– Jacqueline Whitney

God: You don’t have to be. Not with me.

You: I just can’t fall apart right now. I have too much going on.

God: I know. So you’ve been performing. You’ve been smiling when you wanted to cry. You’ve been functioning when you wanted to rest or give up.

You: I don’t know how to stop.

God: I’m not asking you to stop in front of everyone. I’m asking you to stop in front of me. You don’t have to perform here. You don’t have to manage how you appear to me. You can lay it down. The pretending. The composure. The strength you don’t actually feel.

You: I’m just so tired.

God: I know you are. You can rest now. You don’t have to keep holding everything together. I’m here. I see you. I see what today took out of you. Let me carry it for tonight. You can pick it back up tomorrow if you need to. But for tonight, just rest. I am holding you.
