God Didn’t Ask You To Stop Missing Them, He Asked You To Keep Going

Missing someone doesn’t always mean you’re meant to go back. Sometimes it simply means you’re grieving what you hoped the relationship would become. If your heart still aches even though you know letting them go was the right choice, this conversation is a reminder that healing and heartbreak can exist at the same time—and that God is with you through both.

You: I miss them

God: I know you do

You: Does that mean I made a mistake letting them go?

God: No. It means you’re human. You can miss someone and still know they weren’t right for you.

Missing them is part of letting them go

– Jacqueline Whitney

You: It hurts, God

God: Of course it does. Just because they were wrong doesn’t mean losing them doesn’t hurt.

You: Will it always hurt this much?

God: No. One day you will think of them and feel nothing. Or you will feel grateful it ended. Or you will wonder why you held on for so long.

You: When?

God: When you’ve processed the loss. When you’ve grieved what you thought it would be. When you’ve made space for what’s actually coming.

You: I don’t know if I can do that, God.

God: You can. You are. Missing them is part of letting them go. And I will be by your side through it all. It will get better. I promise.
