He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.

Psalm 23:3

Even when we feel depleted, discouraged, or lost, God’s restorative power is constantly renewing our spirits. In times of despair, even when we feel like nothing is going right or that nothing is shifting, God is working deep within our inner being. His refreshment reaches our deepest selves—our emotions, minds, beliefs, and souls—constantly renewing, reviving, and bringing us back to life in His image.

When it comes to human guidance—friends, family members, guides, or mentors—it typically comes from a place of realism, limitation, or doubt. But divine guidance is different—it is pure, it is led by love, and it manifests in divine timing. Unlike the people around us who come and go as they please or in times that serve them, God has active leadership in our lives at all times, guiding us not just on any path, not the ones that we chose or the ones that others chose for us, but the right path—the one towards Him and our true soul’s destiny.

We must honor the space of despair and doubt for that is where God works first within us, restoring us fully and wholly, in order to prepare our vessels to receive the guidance that we seek and have prayed for. Once our souls are restored, where our minds become clear, our hearts open up, and our strength is heightened, then God provides the direction—pointing us exactly where we need to move, what we need to do, and what actions to take. And because He allowed us to go deep within our souls to a place of deep rest, trust, and peace, we are able to trust His guidance even when the path doesn’t make sense to our logical minds.
