The nights you remember as the loneliest may be the nights God remembers holding you the closest. His presence has never depended on whether you could feel it.
God: I want to talk to you about that night.
You: Which night?
God: The one you thought you had to survive by yourself.
You: I remember.
My presence has never depended on whether you could feel it
Jacqueline Whitney
God: I know. You still think of it as the night everything fell apart.
You: It felt like it.
God: I remember something different. I remember the moment you chose to keep going, even though nothing around you had changed yet. You thought no one saw that, but I did.

You: I didn’t feel like you were there.
God: My presence has never depended on whether you could feel it. Some of the deepest work I do happens in the seasons that feel the loneliest.
You: So I wasn’t alone?
God: You never were. And one day, you’ll look back at that night and realize it wasn’t the beginning of your ending. It was the beginning of your becoming.
