I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.
Romans 8:18
Devotional Message
In God’s eternal perspective, the suffering we face is simply part of the journey toward divine transformation. While the pain, heartbreak and defeat are real, the metamorphosis it produces within us will create future glory that infinitely outweighs any heaviness you now feel. There’s a profound difference between minimizing pain and putting it into God’s redemptive perspective. Most of us carry some form of suffering—health struggles, financial stress, broken relationships, unhealed trauma. Our calling isn’t to suppress these realities but to see them through the lens of eternity, trusting that our faithful God will one day reveal the sacred purpose behind even our deepest injustices.
Here’s the beautiful paradox: glory often emerges from our greatest suffering. It’s at our lowest breaking points that the Creator plants seeds within us. We water them daily through faith, prayer, and perseverance until one day we witness miraculous beauty born from our darkest valleys—creative breakthroughs, discovered gifts, restored wholeness, divine connections, transformed relationships. What feels like destruction is actually divine construction. Our rock bottoms become launching pads into God’s greater purposes, even when we can’t see it in the moment.
When we embrace this eternal truth—that present suffering cannot compare to the glory God is preparing to reveal—our responses to hardship are revolutionized. We feel our emotions without letting them imprison our spirits. We acknowledge pain without surrendering our joy. We face difficult days while still finding sacred moments to commune with God and trust His perfect plan. This is how we live with heaven’s perspective while walking on earth.
One day soon, when the suffering has been transformed into testimony, you’ll look up with tears of gratitude and say, “This exceeded everything I ever dreamed possible.” You’ll worship God because it was through your deepest pain that you discovered your truest identity as His beloved child.
Let’s Pray
Dear God, please help me see my current struggles in the light of eternal glory. Right now, I have lost all hope that things will ever get better. I can’t see a way out, nor can I determine what my next steps should be. So please, I don’t need you to heal me right now or fix this exact circumstance, but please give me hope that someday you will—that I will transcend this present pain. I have faith that you are preparing something beautiful through these trials, and I trust that you have given me the wisdom to endure this temporary suffering with grace. I want to express my gratitude now, for while I can’t see it yet, I know the glory that you are preparing to reveal in and through me is far bigger than I could ever imagine. Help me hold onto this truth when darkness feels overwhelming, and remind my heart that this suffering is not the end of my story. Amen.
